All paper documents can be shredded, with no need to remove staples or paper clips. Example documents include bank statements, bills, driver’s licenses, employment records, employee pay stubs, medical records, tax forms, and legal documents.

Clean paper (any size), blueprints, newspapers, magazines, brochures, mail, photographs, and file folders can go into shred bins; no need to remove staples, paper clips, rubber bands or small binders.

The following items do not go into shred bins: paper exceptions (cardboard, telephone books, hard cover books), plastics (plastic bags and packing materials, computer discs, DVDs, CDs, VCR tapes, transparencies, ID badges, driver's licenses, x-rays), batteries (no batteries of any kind), hardware (computer parts, printer and photocopier parts, trash or hazardous materials), metals, and biohazardous and medical waste.

Yes. The Iron Mountain driver will leave a container just outside of the residence before stepping back towards the Iron Mountain truck, then return to lock it when the customer has finished filling it with their secure documents. There should be no physical contact between the Iron Mountain driver and the customer.

No. For the safety of the driver and the customer, the Iron Mountain driver will not be allowed to cross the threshold of a customer residence. Therefore, all materials to be shredded need to be staged outside of the home at ground level .

If this is the case, you can meet the Iron Mountain driver outside the front of the building, as close as possible to the street.

Service frequency is determined by the service purchased. Frequency can range from one-time pickup, to weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly.

Yes, one-time pickup options are available and are priced based on the number of boxes or bins being serviced.

Iron Mountain will drop off containers at your service location at an agreed upon time and date once the new account setup process is complete. You must select the bin service option to get complimentary shred containers delivered.

Iron Mountain offers 65 gallon bins (which hold approximately 230 lbs). An additional container can be added to the service of the first container.

Pricing will be determined based on the subscription package purchased. There are numerous subscription options with differing number of containers and pickup frequency.

While all shredded paper is recycled by Iron Mountain, secure shredding ensures that documents are protected and verified that they are destroyed. Standard recycling programs offer little to no protection of confidential documents.

All shredded materials are recycled into new paper products.

Once you are signed up for the service, you will be contacted directly by Iron Mountain to confirm service location, details, and schedule in 3-10 days depending on your location and partner service option selected.

Due to the logistics of providing the service to residential customers, we will not be able to offer a time window at this time, other than between our operating hours of 8am and 5pm.

All documents are deposited into a locked bin and follow Iron Mountain’s patented chain of custody solution that helps to protect information in transit with patented security features and tracking from pickup to destruction.
